Preview VMCF opening cross Seagulls!
This Sunday the VMCF will get the Belgian MX season underway. Although you can safely call it an opening weekend! MC Meeuwen has free training sessions on Saturday from 13:30 PM to 17 PM. On Saturday evening there will be a party with DJ A-truxx. The timetable for Sunday can be found below.
Organizer Dimitri Wuyts ensures a smooth circuit in Limburg that riders can certainly enjoy. You can see photos of the beautiful course (slightly sandy) with beautifully groomed jumps on the page of our max mxmag.
This Sunday will also be a first indication of the power relations in all classes. In the Inters MX1, all eyes are on reigning champion Vincent Collet (Kawasaki). Collet easily won the title last year, already his fourth crown in the VMCF. With top players like Frederic Weigert, who came over from the AMPL, Junior Slegers, Yerki Janvier, Mike Gillot and Eric Foguenne, Collet can expect stiff competition in Meeuwen.
New rule: 'attendance points'
To reward regularity and tighten the tension of the championship, each driver will receive 5 'attendance points' per registered series (if he has passed the jury car). This new rule applies from the first test to the final.
In MX2, Mark Boot already showed last year that he is the man to beat when he is at the start. The 2 MX2016 champion, Karel Schepmans, switched to the MX1 so that the battle for the quarter-litres is completely open. Or will vice champion Tim Wirtz take the lead? This Sunday there is also the VMCF debut of home rider Glenn Bielen. Curious about what all this will yield? Then definitely take a look!
