Protest in Lierop brings crowds into action!
Something has been brewing in Lierop for a while now. The existence of the Grand Prix course, on which many iconic duels have been fought, is at risk. The track in the Herselse woods has been there for years! This has been the case for more than 45 years, but the course has never had the correct permits. This is due to the fact that in the past not much attention was paid to it and that there was a tolerance policy for the course. However, this tolerance policy is now being challenged by a ruling by the Council of States, which has stated that there can be no talk of motocross as long as this is not laid down in the zoning plan. And in the current zoning plan there is no mention of motocross activities.
However, all this is outside Jean-Paul Maas (LFTW), the Community List (Political Party from Someren) and now also the entire Municipal Council of Someren, to which Lierop belongs. For these give their unanimous support to the petition who requests the Provincial Council of North Brabant to deviate from the space regulation in this exceptional situation in order to guarantee the future of motocross in Lierop. In addition, countless sympathizers came to show their support yesterday. This did not go unnoticed because both Omroep Brabant and the national channel SBS6 paid attention to this non-violent protest march!
