Marvin Musquin takes first 450SX win in Arlington
Marvin Musquin has taken his very first career win in the 450SX class. The Frenchman immediately made it a nice start-finish victory in the AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The Red Bull KTM rider was immediately in the lead after the start and 26 laps later with a “heel clicker” he took his first 450SX victory. By the way, it was 2002 since a Frenchman took a victory in the 450SX class and that was David Vuillemin during the Indianapolis Supercross.
Second place in Arlington went to Cole Seely and third was Jason Anderson on the podium after the superior Frenchman. The leader in the standings Ryan Dungey had a poor start (13th) in the Main Event and would fall just off the podium with his fourth place after a tough duel with Dean Wilson. The winner of the two previous races Eli Tomac got off to a good start (7th) and came back to third place until disaster struck for Tomac. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider crashed and a stuck front brake forced him to the Pit-Lane, Tomac couldn't get more than a fifteenth place. But the Yamaha boys also had to visit the Pit-Lane, Cooper Webb was in second place when he suffered a flat rear tire and Chad Reed suffered mechanical failure. In the standings after six races, Dungey continues to hold the leading position, but is now trailing Red Bull KTM teammate Marvin Musquin, about eighteen points behind him.
In the West Coast 250SX class, victory for the fourth time in a row went to Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Justin Hill, who preceded teammate Austin Forkner and Aaron Plessinger in the Main Event. In the standings, Justin Hill increases his lead over Aaron Plessinger and the unfortunate Shane McElrath, who had some mechanical problems after his holeshot and was unable to score in Arlington.
