Lars Van Berkel on stage in Spain
Iker Larrañaga (Husqvarna Spain) won both MX2 Heats in the Spanish Championship in Alhama de Murcia today. After their 1-2 last week, the Vamo-Hondas were on a roll again! After all, Lars Van Berkel finished second today (3-2).
Van Berkel's teammate Micael Ivanov turned out to be (again) the revelation of the day. The young Bulgarian battled with Larrañaga throughout the first heat after leading in the early stages. However, Ivanov lost the lead when he ran into problems with doubled riders.
In the second moto Ivanov fell in the third turn. From last place he came back to third. Lars initially sat fifth, after which the ex-BMX world champion was able to work his way up quickly. Unfortunately, from the second position he could no longer threaten Larrañaga, who was now too far away. Finnish promise Jere Haavisto, 150 EMX2014 vice-champion, was now fifth.
