TBT: MXDN in Lierop 2004
Because it is a huge mess that motocross in Lierop is under discussion, today with our 'Throwback Thursday' we look back at the Motocross des Nations in Lierop in 2004. When America did not find a budget, cough, and for a moment it seemed as if Marc De Reuver was as fast as Stefan Everts. When Gareth Swanepoel still worked himself out in the heavy sand instead of helping and keeping Cooper Webb and other Americans in shape. Yes, many things have changed in 13 years, but not the course in Lierop. Let's hope this stays that way and that the heavy Brabant sandbox continues to exist. That sandbox where we saw Joel Smets dueling with a then very strong Willy Van Wessel. A track where Jeffrey Herlings knows everyone up to and including number three in the match doubled! And hopefully also the sandbox where we will be sidelined in ten or more years when Jayson Van Drunen takes on Liam Everts, Kadin Carmichael, Jarne Bervoets, ...
