Eli Tomac reigns supreme in Phoenix!!!
Here is Eli Tomac… The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider already had a difficult start to the AMA Monster Energy Supercross season but surprised everyone in Phoenix with a superior start-finish victory. There had already been some doubts about Tomac's character because he did not get further than a 5-6-8 place in the first three games and he was one of the title candidates with Dungey and Roczen. Now that the ban has been somewhat broken for Tomac, it is hoped that after Roczen's retirement he can bring some heat to the defending champion Ryan Dungey during the course of the season.
After this one-man show by Tomac, we were looking forward to second place and there we saw a tough duel between Seely, Dungey and Reed. And yes, “Good Old” Chad Reed outpaced his two predecessors on the same lap and took second place behind Tomac, but almost by twelve seconds. Standings leader Ryan Dungey was able to keep Seely behind him and took third place in Phoenix. Who did make some mistakes was Red Bull KTM rider Marvin Musquin who, after a less good start, only crossed the finish line in ninth ahead of training partner Jason Anderson. With this, Dungey increases his lead over his teammate Musquin by 15 points, Tomac is now third in the standings, 20 points behind the leader.
In the SX250 West Coast, victory for the second time in a row went to Justin Hill, who preceded Shane McElrath and Austin Forkner in Phoenix. In the standings, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull KTM rider Shane McElrath continues to hold the leading position, just four points ahead of Justin Hill.
