Ken Roczen now also wins SX in San Diego!!!
Honda HRC rider Ken Roczen takes victory in the 450SX class for the second time in a row. After being supreme in Anaheim last weekend, the German now had his hands full with defending champion Ryan Dungey. But Ken Roczen was still able to take victory in the second race of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross Championship held at San Diego's Petco Park.
Ryan Dungey took the holeshot in San Diego ahead of Marvin Musquin and Ken Roczen, Red Bull KTM rider Marvin Musquin immediately made a mistake and even ended up off the track. Roczen immediately found himself in second place behind leader Ryan Dungey. This only lasted until the first quarter of the race and then Roczen dived inside Dungey and took over the lead. Once Roczen had taken the lead, Dungey continued to put the necessary pressure on the leader. So we had to look forward to the last lap where Dungey really got on the wheel but made a few mistakes himself and had to leave the victory to Ken Roczen. Just like last weekend, Marvin Musquin crossed the finish line in third place, but about 20 seconds behind the leading duo. Jason Anderson took fourth place and Cole Seely rounded out the top five.
In the 250XS West Coast class, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull KTM rider Shane Mcelrath also took his second win in a row, although this time he only managed to keep Justin Hill behind him at the finish. Aaron Plessinger took third podium place, just like last weekend in Anaheim.
