Preview second Saturday: MX Go-Karting for vzw Bijs!
This Saturday the second and last 'MX Go-Karting' race day will be held in Wase Sint-Niklaas. This is all in the spirit of Music For Life and vzw Bijs! The first race on Saturday was won by the towering favorites of 'Team Fly Racing'. These are not included at the moment, but that does not mean that the field of participants looks less interesting.
Organizer Gino Maes can count on the participation of the vice world champion MX2; Jeremy Seewer who comes to enjoy himself together with his colleague from the Suzuki team Arminas Jasikonis. And all for a good cause. They will have to compete against 'team Bakens Motoren' on the track. These have two pilots in their line-up who were on the podium last weekend. Robin Bakens and Tallon Verhelst will form a team with Dean van Clapdorp. Whether the team will be able to compete for a place on the podium again in this line-up remains to be seen.
Tom Steels is also present again. This time he brings former motocross rider and team owner of Alpha Motorhomes Motocross team Patrick Bellon along. Patrick is currently with Cycling.be-Alpha Motorhomes team active in the cycling world. These two gentlemen will be reinforced by Guy Ivens, who has provided team building within the Quickstep team for many years and is also the parent of a child with a disability and a sympathizer of Bijs.
In addition to these teams, the second race day can also count on many female registrations. There will be thirteen of them participating, divided into four teams, three of which consist entirely of girls. 'Be strong Team Jolien' is one of those all-female teams. This team chose this name as a tribute to their friend and occasional coach Jolien Vleminckx, who fell this year and became paralyzed. In addition to a name with a beautiful meaning, they can also count on top performers such as vice world champion for women, Nancy van de Ven, World Champion for women, Steffi Laier, Jessica Van de Velde and Jessica Steiniger. We have to wait and see whether these ladies will hold their own on the karting track just as they do on the motocross track.
Another manless team is the 'mx future girls' with the young girls Silke Van Nieuwenhove, Selena Brummans, Britt Van Mylem and Stephanie Stoutjesdijk.
A team that does include men is the 'MxMag.be team' of the website of the same name. Together with MXWorld.be, they also show that as motocross sites they support our sport and charity! These will send Olivier Evrard and photographers Frederik Van Eeckhoven and Loïc Lassence into the field. As long as that works out! The one who is used to racing is Tom de Belder, he will form 'Windows and doors Gery de Haes' together with Kristof Salaets, Kevin Aertgeerts and Kevin de Wolf!
Everyone is expected to register at 17:30 PM for further registrations and briefing, so that the qualifications can start promptly at 18:30 PM. At 19 p.m. there will be a traditional start from the 'grid' for a 3-hour endurance race that will be flagged off at 22 p.m. This will be followed by the awards ceremony with prizes that we have received from various sponsors such as Denicol Motor Oils, MX477, R.E.S. Axel, The Art Of Motocross, Red Bull, Ryno Power Axel Roelants, TwinAir, DizzFactory, MXWorld, JPR Belgium Indoor Karting.
