Report + Video: Supercross Geneva!
Last weekend you could watch the Geneva Supercross with some fiddling and struggling. Despite the wonders of the Internet and one global world, it is sometimes a shame that streams are protected and reserved for one country and audience. Now that lament aside, the Geneva Supercross is a classic on the European calendar! This year the organization could again count on a strong field of participants. With Justin Brayton, Marvin Musquin, Malcolm Stewart, Justin Barcia, Cedric Soubeyras, Arnaud Tonus, etc., the match could even stand next to Lille's without any hesitation.
The race in Geneva was also the final of the French Supercross Championship. In the SX1 class it was a matter of seeing who would take the lead in the duel between Cedric Soubeyras and Thomas Ramette.
In the main event of day 1 on Friday, we saw top favorite Marvin Musquin get off to a very bad start. Barcia, Teillet and Malcolm Stewart were the gentlemen who reported from the front. Valentin Teillet quickly fell back in the rankings while Justin Brayton and Marvin Musquin worked their way up the field. Ultimately we saw the match turn into a duel between the four top names on the bill. However, Justin Barcia, who had been in tow for a long time, suffered arm pump and had to relinquish the role, Malcolm Stewart passed the Suzuki pilot in the end, making fourth place the highest possible. However, Malcolm Stewart no longer came close to Marvin Musquin and Justin Brayton, allowing them to score for one and two. We had a nice match, with Marvin Musquin ultimately taking the win. For the French SX1 Title, Cedric Soubeyras did an excellent job by finishing in seventh place, two places above Thomas Ramette who finished ninth.
in the main event on day 2 on Saturday, we saw top favorite Marvin Musquin get off to a better start than on day one. The Frenchman immediately fell in line with leader Justin Brayton. Behind both of them we saw Thomas Ramette, Malcolm Stewart and Justin Barcia. After a few minutes of competition, Thomas Ramette dropped slightly in the rankings, which ensured that, just like the day before, we got the four big names on the bill at the front. Justin Brayton gave Marvin Musquin a nice return. The brand new MotoConcepts HRC Honda pilot fought like a devil in a whey water keg, only to eventually have to give in. But that it did not go without difficulty for Marvin Musquin was shown by the almost fatal mistake on one of the rhythms, where the Frenchman ended up off the track. Fortunately, he was able to get onto the track just ahead of Justin Brayton. This Brayton settled for a good second place and thus kept him out of the rumble that was going on behind him. Behind him, Justin 'BamBam' Barcia and Malcolm 'Mookie' Stewart provided the show by putting each other on fire. Both drove into each other and made each other's lives very miserable with block passes. But whatever Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Justin Barcia pulled out of his hat, it was to no avail. Malcolm Stewart held on in third place, once again giving us the same podium as day one.
For the title of French SX1 champion we saw Thomas Ramette finish fifth, just ahead of his main competitor Cedric Soubeyras. However, this was not enough to clinch the title. Cedric Soubeyras was crowned French SX1 champion together with the JPM Suzuki Racing team. This team was partying again in the SX2 class. Because there they took the French SX2 title with Florent Richier.
