FIM ISDE: USA continues on day 2
On the second day of the 'International Six Days Enduro' in Navarra (Spain), America managed to further extend its lead over first pursuer Italy. This is due to the strong performance of the Americans Taylor Robert and Kailub Russel, who clearly have a supporting role in this team. Although Kailub Russel weakened his results a bit in the second half of the day after he injured his shoulder following a fall.
Italian Giacoma Redondi, who was in the lead at the start of day two, did not have the same superior top day as yesterday and was unable to compete for the top times on the specials this time. There was also no one in the Italian Squadra who could take over this pioneering role. However, a strong performance as a team means that Italy only has to give up 4 seconds to Team USA. However, the 32 second gap that Italy is currently experiencing is not the end of the world, with four days to go!
Great Britain saw their deficit rise significantly in the team rankings. Today it went from 55 seconds to one minute and thirty-three seconds. However, the team could count on a strong performing Nathan Watson. The Husqvarna pilot placed his bike at the front of the top ten in three of the six specials. Spain is currently the only team that is still eligible for victory in the country classification, they were able to limit their damage to 1.46 minutes today. Fifth in the rankings, Portugal follows just under six minutes and after two days they already need a small landslide.
Individually, you already know that Giacoma Redondi lost his leading position today. But to whom? He lost this to Taylor Robert (E2). Today he managed to stay closest to the sublimely performing day winner Josep Garcia Montana (E1). By limiting the damage, Taylor Robert was able to claim the lead by a few tenths of a second. Behind these two gentlemen we saw Daniel Sanders (E3), who is fully committed to individual success after one of the Australian teammates dropped out, completing the top three. This was viewed across all classes.
With the exception of Mathias van Hoof, the Belgians had a day to quickly forget. Mathias Van Hoof, in turn, was able to finish among the people in 99th position, which gives him a 97th position in the 'World Trophy - Junior Trophy' group. The two other compatriots finished 134 and 136 today.
