Update: Febvre misses GP of England and Italy!!!
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider Romain Febvre met with his team and the FIM medical staff on Sunday morning about a possible participation in the Grand Prix of England after his serious crash on Saturday during the Qualifying Race.
After consultation with the representatives of the FIM medical committee, Febvre has decided not to start today's British Grand Prix and to go home early to continue his recovery. The 24-year-old Frenchman will most likely not start during the Grand Prix of Lombardia in Italy next weekend on June 26.
Romain Febvre: “I am very disappointed to have to return home so early, but the crash was very serious. It is the best decision for me to withdraw from Matterley Basin. With the injury to my head, it is very important to rest and recover properly. So I will have to continue recovering at home and more medical tests will determine when I can start training and racing again.”
Yamaha Motocross Racing Manager Alberto Barozzi also said that Febvre will also miss the next Grand Prix in Mantova and will not return until he has fully recovered.
Alberto Barozzi: “The FIM is very clear when it comes to these types of injuries and that precautions must certainly be taken to protect the recovery and health of the rider. We are of course all disappointed because we will have to miss these two important races in England and Italy. But the biggest concern is Romain's health that we have to take into account.”
