Herlings, Flanders and Geerts dominate!
The annual motocross was held today on the beautiful course of Rhenen. On a course that makes our mouths water, with natural level differences and different types of surface, we got an interesting scoop. Jeffrey Herlings took part in a competition on a 450cc machine for the first time in his life.
But first we had to look forward to the MX2 class, in which HSF Logistics had the highest say. It was Robert Just who first seemed to take control of the match. But the opposition came from his own camper. Calvin Vlaanderen gave his teammate stiff resistance to take the lead after a few laps. Robert Justs was able to follow his teammate, but going over was not an option. Behind these two HSF Logistics pilots, Freek van der Vlist took third place ahead of Eric Leijtens and Luca Nijenhuis. In the second moto we saw more of the same. Once again we saw Robert Just and Calvin Vlaanderen duel, and again it was Calvin Vlaanderen who came out on top. This for his teammate Calvin Vlaanderen and Freek van der Vlist.
In the MX1 class we could all enjoy the dominance of Jeffrey Herlings. The Dutchman, for the occasion on a 450cc KTM in the MX1 class, outclassed friend and foe in both motos. In the first heat Jeffrey Herlings was faster than Jeffrey Dewulf and Ceriel Klein Kromhof. Former world champion Steve Ramon finished fifth.
In the second round, Suzuki pilot Steve Ramon once again highlighted his qualities as a pilot, finishing third after the unbeatable Jeffrey Herlings and Ceriel Klein Kromhof. This for Jeffrey Dewulf and Yentel Martens who completed the top five.
Among the 125cc pilots, we Belgians had to look forward to 'child prodigy' Jago Geerts. The Sahkar KTM pilot made a perfect start in both heats, which quickly gave him the lead. In the first moto the young man from Balen made things even more exciting when he crashed with his bike. But he quickly recovered and after a few intense rounds of dueling with Roan van de Moosdijk, Jago Geerts took the lead again. This for Roan van de Moosdijk and reigning European and World 85cc Champion, Raivo Dankers. The second heat was dominated from start to finish by Jago Geerts, in this heat he was clearly faster than Sander-Agard Michelsen and Bastian Boegh Damm. Both of these failed to finish the first heat due to technical problems. Now, however, it was Roan van de Moosdijk who had to deal with technical problems, and therefore missed out on a good overall result.
