Robin Bakens back on the bike!
Belgian Kawasaki rider Robin Bakens has been back on the bike since this weekend. The sympathetic Waaslander has had his broken wrist and elbow healed and, together with doctor Nuyts and his physiotherapist Frederik Adriaensens, he has decided to resume motorcycle training. No sooner said than done, last weekend Bakens completed his first meters of the past 5 weeks.
Robin Bakens: “It was a great pleasure to be able to ride the bike again, but the injury still felt strange. I've experienced some suffering before, but a broken elbow is quite strange. It felt quite unstable when driving but at the same time it doesn't feel very painful. This way I was able to immediately complete a few short sessions, two days in a row, without experiencing any pain at night or the next day. I don't know yet when I can resume competitions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people around me, the people who supported me during this period and also helped me, such as doctor Nuyts, my osteopath Wouter Heijen and my physiotherapist Frederik Adriaensens.”
It is not yet clear when Robin will return to competitions, everything depends on the progress he makes with the physiotherapist and the feeling during the motorcycle training.
