100th MX2 series victory for untouchable Jeffrey Herlings
Jeffrey Herlings also remains undefeated in the MX2 class in Patagonia, Argentina, by winning both series. Once again there was nothing to be done against the Dutch Red Bull KTM rider. At the previous Grand Prix in Valkenswaard, Netherlands, Herlings took his 50th GP win and now in Argentina he took his 100th series win in the MX2 class with the win in the second series.
After Herlings it was time to see who would come second... that honor now fell to the Swiss Jeremy Seewer. The Suzuki World MX2 rider took fourth place in the first series and held off the Russian Tonkov in the second series to finish second in the GP final standings. Third place went to Wilvo Standing Construct Yamaha rider Aleksandr Tonkov, who finished third twice in the series.
The biggest unlucky ones in Patagonia were the British Max Anstie and the Latvian Pauls Jonass. Max Anstie took the holeshot twice and could only capitalize on it in the first series with a second place behind Herlings. In the second series he also came in second place for a while until he had mechanical problems and had to give up. For Pauls Jonass, the first heat was over after just a few hundred meters when he crashed spectacularly and this was immediately the exit for the Red Bull KTM rider. In the second heat he was still able to take fourth place despite not feeling so good after his fall in the first heat.
Damon Graulus started well in sixth place in the opening series, but slowly dropped to twelfth place, which was already his best result of the current season. In the second series the start was less good and the Jtech Honda rider only crossed the finish line in eighteenth, which gave him a total of twelve points in Argentina.
