VE Racing on Van de Laar Yamahas in 2016!
A drastic decision, that is the least you can say about the VE Racing team's choice to switch to Van de Laar Yamaha just a month before the start of the season. Glenn Bielen will still complete the same program as previously planned, not on a light blue machine, but on the dark blue 125cc Yamaha of Van de Laar.
Frederik Van Eeckhoven, team manager: “As a starting team you make mistakes, our biggest mistake was our inexperience. We knew that the TMs were good engines and that they already ran fast as standard. But to compete in the European Championship you need more than a great standard motorcycle. Given the nature of the Italian beast, we had to look for usable power and the correct settings for the sandy surfaces, but unfortunately we did not find that. However, over time we have found the right people with the experience, at Yamaha Van de Laar, they know perfectly how a European Championship engine should run and, thanks to Danny de Baets, offered us a nice and complete package for the 2016 season. It will not be easy to get everything ready in time for the new season, but we are confident that everything will be ready by the first EMX125cc race in Latvia. This is not only thanks to Van de Laar Yamaha, but also thanks to our sponsors who remain loyal to us. DC Shoes, VROOAM Lubricants, MXFORCE, Funnelweb Filters, GPM Performance, Mitas Tires and CFX Seatcovers.”
