KEMEA Yamaha Race Report – Pre Season Races Lamezia & Hawkstone Park
Good preparatory matches for Guillod and Paturel
The long-awaited start of the new season has finally arrived! After a difficult start two weeks ago in Alghero, Valentin Guillod started for the second time last Sunday on his KEMEA YZ450F for the second race of the Italian Championship in Lamezia Terme.
On the sandy but SX-like course, the Swiss rider had the opportunity to gain extra competition experience on the 450. He finished fifth in the MXGP race and finished fourth in the combined super final.
Valentin Guillod: “ In the MXGP race I did some good laps but I still couldn't get back the feeling I had in training. The super final, on the other hand, was much better. I had a good feeling and rode consistent times throughout the race. I learn a lot every time I get on the bike, and together with the team we continue to make progress.”
The MX2 riders arrived at the start of the Hawkstone Park International race this weekend. In the end, only Benoit made the transfer to the UK because Brent decided not to start due to a painful arm.
The tough course in Hawkstone was even tougher on Sunday due to the heavy rain. In both MX2 races, Benoit started well and immediately rode to the front ranks. In the first series he finished fourth. In the second series, Benoit had to abandon the race on the third lap with electronic problems while he was in fourth place.
In the final super final, Paturel again got off to a good start. After the first lap he finished ninth. Despite severe stomach cramps, he moved up to seventh place and finished as 4th MX2 rider.
Next weekend Valentin will take part in the final test of the Italian championship in Ottobiano. Benoit and Maxime will start in Valence.
Brent, for his part, will also remain on the sidelines next weekend. Due to an infection in his arm, he was advised not to ride a motorcycle for two weeks. He will join his teammates next week for the match in Lacappelle Marival.
