On Tuesday, January 19, the FMWB Board of Directors elected a new chairman of the BMB. The statutes of the BMB provide that the federal chairman is nominated in turn by its two regional associations, the Flemish Motorcyclists' Union of Belgium (VMBB) and the 'Fédération Motocycliste Wallonne de Belgique' (FMWB). It was now the turn of the FMWB to appoint a successor to the current chairman, Mr. Jos Driessen.
Four candidates had submitted their candidacy: Mr. Claude Danis (BMB chairman from 1996 to 2004), Mr. Robert Gysembergh (BMB chairman from 2008 to 2012), Mr. Christian Dejasse (BMB director) and Mr. Olivier Rougraff (BMB director). Mr. Christian Dejasse, however, decided to withdraw his candidacy for the elections.
Mr. Olivier Rougraff was eventually elected as the new BMB chairman. His mandate will start during the General Meeting of the BMB on March 23.
Mr. Olivier Rougraff, 48 years old, has been a director of the BMB since 2009 and is also chairman of the Motocross club Haut-Pays, organizer of the international competition, the 'Coupe de l'Avenir'. In his professional life he is the manager of a company active in public and private works.
