Justin Brayton and Cooper Webb win SX of Genova
One of the largest supercross competitions in Europe was on the program in Genova, Italy. With names like Justin Brayton, Cooper Webb, Dylan Ferrandis, Justin Bogle, Valentin Guillod and so on, this was an impressive field of participants. The format for the pro classes was such that the SX1 class had 2 main events, the SX1 class had one main event and then a super final to find out who would become the king of Genova.
In the SX1 class we got Justin Brayton at the front, with his arenacross experience he can find his way well on this small short circuit compared to American supercross tracks. But after winning the first main event, he did not get further than 11th place in the second main event, which even caused him to miss the podium in the general classification. A stage that was also completely American in color. Winner of the SX1 class was Cooper Webb with a second and a first place. Brock Tickle was second and Justin Bogle third. The first European was Dylan Ferrandis in fifth place.
In the SX2 class we had the European 250cc champion at the start, Nick Kouwenberg. But Suzuki factory pilot Brian Hsu was also looking forward to some supercross action. Despite some supercross specialists from Italy and even Canada, the match was still between these two top athletes from the outdoor world. Nick Kouwenberg managed to take the holeshot, but Brian Hsu evenly increased the pressure. Ultimately, the German was able to pass Kouwenberg and thus crown himself SX2 champion of Genova. Kouwenberg came second and the Italian Francesco Muratori came third.
To determine who can bear the title of King of Genova for one year, a super final was held with the best SX1 and best SX2 riders together. Justin Brayton clearly wanted to put the finishing touches on this, and like a man possessed he took a beautiful holeshot and didn't let anyone pass. In the second corner it immediately became clear that a good start was necessary, Dylan Ferrandis almost crashed and almost the entire pack had one foot on the ground. Fast starter Valentin Guillod took advantage of this and opened up a gap towards third place. However, supercross specialist Cedric Soubeyras edged over Guillod for second place. Dylan Ferrandis finished fourth and Justin Bogle fifth. Best SX2 rider in the super final was Nick Kouwenberg with ninth place.
