Honda 150 European Championship calendar 2016
Youthstream and Honda have agreed to give young talent a chance in the world of motocross next season. This means we will once again have a Honda 150 European Championship on the calendar in 2016. The Honda 150 series will therefore again be organized simultaneously with an MXGP race and will consist of five races. Honda also provides two training camps for emerging talent between the ages of 11 and 14.
The participants will receive full support from Honda, which is supervised by coach and former Honda GP winner Gordon Crockard and Honda Motor Europe Off-Road Manager Davy Dousselaere. The winner of this Honda 150 series will receive a place in the Honda Racing Family and Honda support for the 250 European Championship in 2017.
Calendar and training camps Honda 150 series:
April 23-24 Training Camp Albaida, Spain
May 08 MXGP of Germany, Teutschenthal
June 19 MXGP of England, Matterley Basin
July 27 Training camp Honda Park Olmen Belgium
31 July MXGP of Belgium, Lommel
August 07 MXGP of Switzerland, Frauenfeld – Gachnang
August 28 MXGP of the Netherlands, Assen
Davy Dousselaere, Honda Motor Europe Off-Road Manager: “It's great to see how this championship has grown since its inception in 2013 and how it attracts more and more talent every year. Next year, two training camps will be planned to further develop the young rider's technique and skills to enter a racing environment without too much pressure. It is an incredible experience for the children to be part of the Honda Racing family and meet the Honda Grand Prix stars. For these young amateur riders, there is no other series that allows them to race and get to know the MXGP World Championship circuit, perhaps providing a valuable springboard for their further careers.”
Giuseppe Luongo, Youthstream President: “It is very important to nurture young talent and help them get more riders onto the world stage. The Honda 150 European Championship is ideal for young riders to gain experience in the MXGP paddock and get to know their idols while also racing on the same circuit. I am therefore pleased that this championship will once again support the 2016 Motocross World Championship.”
