Then no World Cup points during the qualifying series!
Youthstream is clearly still trying to figure out how they will approach the 2016 season. In Ernée they came out with the news that in 2016 points would be distributed during the qualifying heats on Saturday. This is how the top 5 received points, and to determine the GP winner, all points, including those from the qualifying round, were added together. This was met with heavy backlash on social media and is now also evident from the 'Grand Prix committee'. Because the latter suspends this decision and has unanimously decided not to implement this adjustment.
The calendar also recently received some adjustments. For example, the MXGP Van Valkenswaard was moved to the Easter weekend and it is also unclear where the GP will be held on the weekend of May 29. Some sources refer to the Finnish Hyvinkaa, but Spain is also said to be in the running to organize an MXGP in 2016.
Adjustments were made not only at World Cup level, but also at European level. The EMX150 calendar was announced yesterday and these races will take place during the MXGPs of Germany, the United Kingdom, Lommel, Switzerland and Assen. However, this means that the EMX125 competition in Germany will not take place, otherwise the program would become too busy.
Meanwhile, we are only 105 days away from the opening GP in Qatar!
