Public interest was great in Vlissingen. The organization was perfect. These men know how to organize something because it was no less than the thirtieth time that they organized a beach cross. The entire Beursfoon Rockstar KTM Team came to the start, with the exception of Ivano van Erp. Two heats of fifteen minutes were held on the beautiful beach of Vlissingen.
In the first moto it was Kay Karssemakers who managed to take the holeshot and remained in the lead in the first laps. Rick Elzinga was also good at the front and kept a close eye on everything from third place. Stef Karssemakers started in sixth place and Sem Beijer was not far behind on his Eurol lubricated KTM machine. Sem rode his very first race in the 85cc large wheels in Vlissingen and did so neatly. Both riders had a good time on the tough sand circuit, but a crash dropped Stef to tenth place. Rick crossed the finish line second and Kay finished third. Sem crossed the finish line in sixteenth place in his first moto on a KTM SX85cc large wheels.
Kay had clearly mastered starting in Vlissingen because he also steered his well-prepared KTM machine through the first corner first in the second moto. Rick started the race right behind Kay and went on the attack to pass him. This succeeded after a number of turns and then started to walk away from his pursuers. Rick completed a consistent race and crossed the finish line as the winner with a safe lead. After his good start, Kay also managed to hold his position in the top three and crossed the finish line in third place. Just like in the first moto, Stef crossed the finish line in tenth place. Sem rode in the top fifteen in the initial phase, but unfortunately he made a few mistakes, which meant he could not get further than thirty-first place.
Rick won the day's classification and with a third place Kay was also able to take his place on the day's podium. It was an educational day for all the team's riders with another victory for the team. This coming weekend the Beursfoon Rockstar KTM Team will start in the supercross in Schijndel.
