Frossard makes progress after serious back injury
Member of the 2014 MXON winning team Steven Frossard has surprised the doctors with his progress in recent weeks. Frossard is currently recovering from a compressed vertebra and still has a long rehabilitation ahead of him, which will improve step by step. In the meantime, the Frenchman can already walk.
After an unfortunate fall during the first round of the Lombardy GP in Mantova, Frossard still had feeling in both legs, but he could not move them. The Kawasaki rider agrees that he was very lucky in the fall, which landed him hard on his lower back. “I immediately knew something was wrong when I tried to get up but couldn't. There was a problem with both legs, but in the end it was my left leg that bothered me most. Fortunately, there is no major damage to the spinal cord.”
After a 1-month stay in a specialized rehabilitation center near his hometown of Lyon, Steven was allowed to return home to continue his rehabilitation. However, it is still difficult to say to what extent Frossard can start thinking about training or riding a motorcycle… “It is very difficult to predict anything,” he admits. “Just after the operation I was told that I would probably never be able to use my leg properly again, but so far I have surprised the doctors and everyone around me with where I am now. The most important thing is that I feel good and that I can continue to make progress step by step. The start of next season will undoubtedly come too early for me, but I am motivated to make a comeback.”
The 28-year-old Frossard has not yet been officially confirmed in a team for 2016, but is rumored to have signed a contract with Suzuki and tested the yellow machine just before his crash.
