De Dycker on KTM to farewell?
The Red Bull KTM team could suddenly be back at full strength at the end of the 2015 season. Tony Cairoli returned to the saddle of his 450SX-F yesterday after a six-week break to prepare for the Monster Energy US Grand Prix in Glen Helen in three weeks' time. If everything went according to plan, he might also be at the start in Leon, Mexico, in about ten days.
Tommy Searle is also back on his 350SX-F from last week after recovering from a rib injury. As a result, the Englishman misses selection for the British team in the Motocross of Nations in Ernee. Now that there is no longer room for him at KTM, he is reportedly returning to Kawasaki in the Monster Energy DRT team for 2016. More news about this move will come in the coming weeks as Glenn Coldenhoff has already been confirmed with Red Bull KTM canopy for 2016.
With Searle and Cairoli likely to perform in Glen Helen, there is also the big surprise that Ken De Dycker will be back on his KTM. It is said that it seems very uncertain that we will see the Belgian rider again in the Grand Prix's, the 31-year-old has been plagued by injuries for two seasons and may consider quitting. De Dycker has only just completed shoulder surgery due to a fall during the German GP in June. Due to the absence of the injured Kevin Strijbos, there is a chance that De Dycker could come in as a substitute for the MDN and this may well be his last selection for Team Belgium in the Nations. A request has therefore been submitted to KTM to prepare equipment for the former GP winner to start riding again in the coming days.
Red Bull KTM will be under the tent in 2016 with Cairoli, Herlings, Coldenhoff, Jonass and Pootjes. It remains to be seen what Herlings' destination will be next season: MXGP or MX2.
