Simpson and Anstie win Qualifying Races in Lommel
The Scot Shaun Simpson (MXGP) and the Englishman Max Anstie (MX2) have won the Qualifying Races for the Belgian Grand Prix in Lommel, Limburg. Before the Qualifying Races started, we already received a notification from our compatriot Clement Desalle, who crashed during the Time Practice and suffered an injury to his right shoulder. So exit for the Rockstar Energy Suzuki rider before the Belgian Grand Prix starts.
MXGP
In the MXGP class it was Shaun Simpson who won the Qualifying Raxe ahead of the leader Romain Febvre and our compatriot Kevin Strijbos. The Rockstar Suzuki rider was right at the start and was able to hold the lead for three laps until Shaun Simpson arrived. The Scottish KTM rider came from fourth place after the start and made a lot of meters on his predecessors on the triple jump that he was the only rider to take. Once Simpson was in the lead, he drove straight to victory and it was only Romain Febvre who could stay close. Behind this duo we got Kevin Strijbos in third place ahead of the Dutchman Glenn Coldenhoff. Fifth place went to Jeremy Van Horebeek who had already settled into fifth place after three laps.

In the MX2 we immediately got last year's winner in the Lommel sand, Max Anstie, in the lead. Behind Anstie we got Jonass, Tixier, Guillod, Seewer and Petrov. Our compatriots Brent Van Doninck, Jens Getteman and Julien Lieber were in the top ten after the start. Tim Gajser was the least successful of all the top riders and would therefore only be flagged in eleventh. Petar Petrov, who was the fastest in the Time Practice, quickly moved into second place after battling Pauls Jonass for a number of laps. Brent Van Doninck had now also climbed to fourth place and was able to keep up with the pace of the leaders very well. Just before half way, Valentin Guillod also crashed and had to give up with a completely bent Yamaha bike. Max Anstie took the win in this Qualifying Race ahead of Petrov and Jonass. Kemae Yamaha rider Brent Van Doninck took fourth place, while Julien Lieber finished ninth. Our third compatriot at the start was Jens Getteman, who finished in fifteenth place.
