EMX125: Geerts & Genot prove themselves fastest in their own sandbox!
In recent days, many heats at the European Championship were contested in Lommel. One of those motos was the EMX125. A starring role was destined for the Belgians. In the first heat, no fewer than three compatriots finished in the top five, but none of the three could keep Spanish aviator Jorge Prado Garcia from victory. The Spanish KTM Factory pilot won the first EMX125 easily and led the race from start to finish. He did this for an impressively performing Nathan Renkens. After a very weak start, the duo Jago Geerts and Cyril Genot stormed through the field like twins. Of the places sixteen and seventeen, Genot managed to finish third and Jago Geerts fourth. All this for the other KTM Junior Factory pilot Josiah Natzke.
The second round, on Sunday, on an even tougher Lommel. It was exactly what the Belgians wanted. The winner of the first heat, Jorge Prado Garcia, already crashed in the first corner, leaving the way open for a well-started Jago Geerts and Cyril Genot, who was advancing from the belly. It didn't take long until the two Belgians met each other. A fiercely contested duel ensued and the eldest of the two, Cyril Genot, emerged victorious. Jago Geerts finished second ahead of Josiah Natzke. Jorge Prado finished sixth after a wild chase and thus becomes the new leader in the EMX125 class, partly due to the absence of the injured Maxime Renaud who could not defend his leading position.
