Will Everts, Geboers take over Suzuki?!
In recent days we received interesting information. Sylvian Geboers, who has reportedly been looking for a takeover for almost four years, was in discussions with some serious candidates to sell the official Suzuki team.
One of those candidates went by the name Hans Corvers, known from the Kemea Yamaha Yamalube team. For a long time it seemed that this would take over the team with which Sylvain Geboers achieved many successes until, halfway through last week, it was suddenly 'rumored' that this would not happen.
Immediately the carousel started spinning again. This was partly because the rumor was that another Belgian would take over the team and this with the support of partners who have been loyal to him for years... The list of possible candidates was suddenly narrowed with the description. Because although the paddock may be full of Belgians, not all Belgians can count on support from partners who have been loyal to them for years. Was it Joel Smets? Marniq Bervoets? Or Stefan Everts? It is the latter, an intimate told me from the paddock in Sweden…
Stefan, who after the Herlings fuss (read box), was transferred from the 'Red Bull KTM Factory team' to a then barely developed KTM youth team. Would be out for revenge to some extent. In addition, we assume that 'The Legend' might prefer to be in control himself, something that had become completely impossible at KTM.
After a short 'Whats-App' conversation with Stefan Everts, 'The Legend' only told us that he could not respond to this, because nothing has been decided yet. He also added that he is still under contract with KTM until the end of 2016.
Herlings-Heisa
The collaboration between Jeffrey Herlings and Stefan Everts did not always run smoothly. For example, Jeffrey Herlings repeatedly ignored well-intentioned advice. The stubborn side of a champion that clashed with the well-intentioned advice of another champion. Herlings, then only 17 years old, admitted in 2012 that he did not get on well with the ten-time world champion. The young man then added: “We very often have different opinions.” Stefan Everts often viewed the behavior of the man from Elzendorp with dismay. Everyone remembers the Lierop Grand Prix in 2013, in which Jeffrey Herlings started with a broken shoulder blade, against everyone's advice. In the preparation for the 2014 season, Jeffrey sustained a stress fracture, rest is the only solution and this is imposed by the doctors and Stefan. But once again the Red Bull KTM pilot wiped the floor with that advice, resulting in a more serious injury.
In the 2014 season, Jeffrey Herlings suffered another minor injury in the run-up to the Brazilian Grand Prix. Stefan Everts advises the two-time world champion not to travel, to prevent further injuries, also knowing that the KTM pilot is capable of outclassing everyone for the rest of the season. This advice is followed, but after the injury sustained at the 'Everts & Friends Charity Event' it is given as a reason for missing the world title. Because that's what it would be like if some points had been collected there... If the relationship was not completely soured before 2014, it will be after 2014. At the end of the whole story it is the man who wins the races on the motorcycle, Jeffrey Herlings which is held over the head by Pit Beirer. Stefan Everts will be given a new position by KTM, a position in the KTM Factory Junior Team in which he will take Josiah Natzke, Jorge Prado Garcia and Conrad Mewse to the next level.
