KEMEA Yamaha Yamalube Race Report: GP13 Loket, Czech Republic
KEMEA Yamaha riders Benoit Paturel and Brent Vandoninck took fourth and ninth place respectively in the final standings of the 13th GP of the season in the Czech Loket.
Benoit was in good shape all weekend on the beautiful 'old school' circuit in Loket. After some exciting duels, the Frenchman eventually crossed the line in 5th place in the first heat. The second moto went even better with a fourth place for Benoit.
With these results he missed the final podium by only 2 points, but scored his best result of the season so far. Paturel enters the top 10 in the World Cup standings. He is now 20 points behind in 9th place.
Brent scored two top 10 places and finished 9th in both motos. He started outside the top 10 in both heats, but was able to recover strongly to finish 9th.
He also finished 9th in the final standings and is now 15th in the World Championship standings.
Benoit Paturel: “I am very satisfied with my weekend. Unfortunately I missed the podium by only two points, but it is still good for my confidence that I was able to compete at the front. I really enjoyed myself and had a good feeling all weekend. This week we will now ride in the sand in preparation for the Lommel GP next week, so that we are optimally prepared.”
Brent Vandoninck: “ I am satisfied with the driving, but not with the result. Overall I rode well and was satisfied with the speed, but we still have to work on the starts, because that is a bit of a weak point. After a poor start it was very difficult to pass because almost everyone had the same speed. In the second moto I might as well have finished sixth, we were all going at the same speed but we couldn't get passed. Ultimately, I can look back with satisfaction. Two times ninth is not bad. Now I'm already looking forward to starting next week in the Belgian GP. I love sand courts and a home game is always extra exciting. I'm not putting myself in any real position, but I'm sure it will be fun!
Next week the 14th GP of the season will take place in Lommelse Zand, an important home GP for the KEMEA Yamaha Yamalube team.
