Three in a row for Gasjer, new injury for Herlings
The Slovenian Tim Gasjer won the eleventh GP of the season today in Uddevalla, Sweden, also the third in a row for the Honda rider.
In the first series, Paulss Jonass was in the lead for a long time, followed closely by Herlings and Gasjer. Just after the halfway mark, Herlings, who only broke his collarbone two weeks ago, took control. He took off, came under pressure from Gasjer for a while, but eventually won the first heat ahead of Gasjer and Guillod. Jonass finished fourth, Brylyakov fifth and Vandoninck a nice sixth. Kevin Fors finished 17th and Julien Lieber crossed the line in 20th. World champion Tixier had to retire with a broken damper.
In the second moto things went completely wrong for Herlings in the first corner. His front wheel slipped and he fell. He dislocated his little finger in the fall. It was completely loose and completely tangled and in panic Herlings went straight to the emergency room. At the front, Seewer was in command for Gasjer. However, the Swiss did not keep this up for long and had to let Gasjer go. Seewer stayed in second place and achieved his first podium. Tixier finished third. This time Julien Lieber was the best compatriot in 6th place. Vandoninck finished eleventh and Fors finished 16th.
In the final score, Gasjer wins ahead of Guillod and Seeuwer. Vandoninck finishes sixth overall; Lieber 13th and Fors 19th. In the World Cup standings, Gasjer is once again creeping a lot closer to Herlings. The gap is now still 78 points, but the question is whether Herlings could start next week. To be continued undoubtedly!
