Desalle is thinking about returning to the Czech Grand Prix
Suzuki rider Clement Desalle is almost certain to return next weekend for the Czech Grand Prix after being sidelined for the last four races with a left knee injury. Desalle rode the bike back last Tuesday after about five weeks of recovery from a damaged ligament in the knee. “I trained as best I could and I have the idea in my head that I should still go to Loket because I had a good feeling on the bike,” he says. “I want to improve step by step, but I'm still not 100% yet.”
Desalle is one of the three pilots who completed this current championship with the red plate, but due to an injury suffered at the beginning of June during the French Grand Prix, he was knocked back to sixth place, 163 points behind leader Romain Febvre. The 26-year-old will be back behind the wheel of his RM-Z450 on the hard track of the Czech Loket, where he took victory in 2009, 2011 and 2013 and was on the podium in 2010 and 2012. In 2014 he missed the Grand Prix due to a broken scaphoid bone. Two of these victories were with Suzuki in his total of six seasons for the Belgian Suzuki team.
Rumors surrounding the 2013 Motocross of Nations winner and his future plans have been circulating heavily during the last two races. It is widely known that Desalle will join the Monster Energy Kawasaki Team in 2016, but the length of the contract is not yet known. But due to the agreements between the rider, team and manufacturer, Desalle may not be officially introduced until after the Motocross of Nations or perhaps not until the end of October. The Belgian rider has won a GP every season since 2009 and only needs one GP win to reach a total of twenty in the MXGP class.
