Title dream completely over for Desalle
Clément Desalle, who suffered a shoulder and knee injury in France two weeks ago, still had a good view of things in the run-up to the Grand Prix. He started in both the free practice sessions and the timed practice sessions, but did not come close to a top time in either. The qualifying series left 'MX-Panda' for what it was. For a while there was still hope among all Belgian supporters that there was a certain reserve, to spare themselves, so to speak, in the service of the matches where points can be gained. But unfortunately the Rockstar Energy Suzuki team announced in the evening that the Belgian, who was one of the big title favorites until France, will not participate in the competitions. In addition, participation in the German Grand Prix is highly uncertain.
Clément Desalle: 'I came to try and actually my shoulder is quite OK. It is not 100% but it is good to drive. However, it is the knee that is more concerning and in which I have no confidence. As a result, I now also follow the doctor's advice, who said that if it felt good, participation was no problem. But if I recognized pain and irritation in the knee, I could refrain from participating and resting. This is to avoid making the entire injury worse. In addition, it is not so good to fight for 16th or 18th place, it was a hard decision and that is what it is. My personal goals will have to be achieved next year and in the future.'
