Press conference MXGP Assen: This is the future!
Yesterday, the official MXGP Grand Prix was presented on the sidelines of the Assen TT, the official Dutch MotoGP Grand Prix. Those present included Lee van Dam (organizer), as well as Danielle Rizzi (CEO Youthstream) and eight-time world champion Antonio Cairoli. Everyone sounded the same, a match like we will see in Assen is the future. People no longer want to have to walk through the mud and no longer want to feel the grass and sand between their toes, or that is the vision of these gentlemen.
Danielle Rizzi said the following: “For us (Youthstream), an event like this is the future of motocross. Because our sport has become enormous, there are a lot of people who want to come and enjoy it. There are also many sponsors who are willing to provide support. But these people need good facilities. One that can deal with factors such as heavy traffic, bad weather or whatever the problem may be. However, we see that there are several good locations in the Netherlands. But at those locations we sometimes have problems with parking and the weather gods. However, we see that Assen, in the spirit of 'motocross new concept', has a solution for all these problems. However, Assen will be able to take place in addition to the traditional events. This way we can offer two events in one country. This one in the new style and one in the traditional style. So it will be the fans choice, everyone's choice which of the two they prefer. We will see this clearly after this event”
