Column: It's over, it's war!
Me and 10 paying visitors are going home from a wonderful motocross day. The circuit on the Kesterheide was perfect due to the rain on Friday and the weather on Sunday could not have been better. The competition program was also wonderfully filled, in addition to the Inters Open class, I also saw my very first GP idols pass by on motorcycles on which they won their world titles, Joël Smets on his old Husaberg, what a wonderful sound that was. In the various classic car series I saw motorcycles from times before I was even mentioned. And yet, I literally go home crying from unhappiness.
It was not an accident or a poor performance by my top pilot that was the cause, but some undemocratic souls that were the cause of my and 10 other people's misfortunes. Undemocratic souls who go against scientific research that shows that motocross once a year in one place does not harm nature. Souls who, like certain organizations in the Middle East, do not attach importance to culture and history. And people who, without a doubt, do not tolerate any participation. What makes me cry even harder is the realization that I will be working for such an organization. Because every year, around a million euros in taxpayers' money is channeled to this… let's just call it an association.
Where is the problem here? There you will get different stories from all sides. However, until yesterday I thought I lived in a democratic country. But apparently not. If 11 people can suspend an annual event that is attended by 10 people every year and that number of people afterwards look at photos and read articles about it... then I am talking about a dictatorship. And how do I go against a dictatorship? By going to war, I hereby declare that I am free to enter into a war with unjust disappearances of circuits and organizations. As in '000-'39, ground will literally be gained, one ground at a time!
