Filip Bengtsson unsure for British GP
As a result of his serious crash during the second round in Valkenswaard, 24MX Honda rider Filip Bengtsson (23) suffered a serious concussion. Like many fellow motocross riders in such a situation, the multiple Swedish champion underestimated the impact of the blow. He therefore continued to train and ride. It says a lot about Bengtsson's perseverance that he still managed to win a qualifying race and one heat in such tough conditions during the first round of the Swedish championship in Tibro.
Since Filip suffered from concentration problems and unexplained fatigue during the last Spanish GP, he underwent medical examination. Fortunately, this showed that there was no damage. To fully recover from his concussion, the talented Honda pilot must take complete rest. It is therefore not clear at the moment whether he will be ready for the next Grand Prix, the Matterley Basin in England on May 23 and 24.
Filip Bengtsson: “After my crash in Valkenswaard I didn't feel so good. In the days that followed I still had a headache and I also felt very tired all the time. Because I had never had such a concussion before, I didn't pay enough attention to those symptoms. So I just continued, perhaps a slight fall in Tibro also played a role. In Spain I knew something was wrong and that's why I went to the doctor. Today a CT scan of my head showed that the impact in Valkenswaard was significant. I suffered a concussion and also a slight bleeding in my brain. The bleeding will soon recover on its own, but it is still important to rest. Unfortunately, this means I will miss the second race for the Swedish Championship. Hopefully I can be there for the coming GPs.”
