Van Horebeek satisfied with his comeback
The 2014 MXGP vice-world champion was a battle-weary man on Sunday evening in Matterly Basin. Jeremy Van Horebeek only came out of a plaster cast on his left foot a week before the English GP and therefore had barely a week to prepare on his Yamaha Factory Racing Yamalube YZ450FM for the seventh round of the world championship.
The last thing Van Horebeek could really miss was the restart of the first series, and then having to complete a full series again. Despite the fatigue, Van Horebeek still managed to score a 10-9 place on the fast Matterly circuit with some big jumps that could have damaged his injury.
“I have had no pain in my foot this weekend and that means I am as good as healed. I still have some work to do to get back to physical fitness as soon as possible, but I am already happy with this result,” he said.
The #89 does not have the easiest start to the season, a fifth place is his best result so far and crashes in Thailand and Italy caused some problems. The pressure to regain the level of last year, where he took twelve podium places, has increased, especially now that his teammate Romain Febvre is at full speed. With his comeback back in the Grand Prix's, Van Horebeek has little time to recover as the next race is already scheduled this weekend with the French Grand Prix in Villars sou Ecot.
“It's an easy week for me. Maybe some riding on Wednesday, but just in a relaxed way. I have to get my energy back.” he said after the British GP. “The cast came off my foot and I then trained really hard on the bike for about four days. It was really difficult and now I feel tired, but this will make me stronger later.”
