KRT Kawasaki has secured a replacement for Ferrandis!
As you could already read, Dylan Ferrandis, currently second in the World Cup standings, injured himself during the Spanish Grand Prix in Talaveira de la Reina. The young Frenchman tore his ligaments and injured the meniscus in the knee and was therefore immediately forced to retire from the 2015 season.
To keep all sponsors happy, it was up to Jean Jacques Luisetti, team owner of the KRT Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team, to find a replacement. Not an easy task for Luisetti, but their search ended surprisingly with the Bulgarian Petar Petrov. Apparently he was able to easily get out of his current agreement with the Hitachi Construction Machinery Revo KTM UK team, and thus make the switch to Kawasaki's Factory MX2 team.
Petar Petrov, who in the past competed for the Belgian Kemea Yamaha team, is currently thirteenth in the World Championship standings and will compete for the KRT Monster Energy Kawasaki team from the British Grand Prix.
Jean Jacques Luisetti (Team Owner): “We were forced to make a quick decision, due to the fact that we have an agreement with sponsors and partners to have three pilots at the start in every Grand Prix. But looking for a quality replacement for Dylan was not easy, as there are not very many drivers available at this time of the season. Fortunately, Lady Fortune smiled on us and we were able to attract Petar Petrov. The young pilot will undoubtedly give our team some extra international appeal. We will support Petar as much as possible to feel at home as quickly as possible. However, we also do not forget Dylan, who can still count on us during his rehabilitation.”
Petar Petrov: “I can only say that I am extremely excited about this opportunity. The Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 Team is a factory team, and it makes me very happy that this team believes in my abilities. Let me say that I am convinced that I can do well with the support that the team can provide and with the experience they have here in the team. I'm so looking forward to playing for this team and seeing what happens next. Of course I would like to thank the entire staff for their trust and belief in me.”
