The Sidecarcross World Championship has started!
Last weekend the Sidecarcross World Championship got under way in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. The weather in Switzerland did not help and even caused the paddock to move to a dense industrial area. There was no possibility to park the heavy trucks on the grass. In addition, the timetable was also thrown into disarray. Fortunately, the matches themselves could continue as normal.
In these competitions, the audience saw a Belgian, Dutch and Latvian podium for the first series. The Belgian-Dutch duo Ben Adriaenssen and Ben van den Bogaart won this series ahead of the Belgian-Latvian duo Jan Hendrickx-Elvijs Mucenieks and the Dutch-Latvian duo Etienne Bax-Kaspars Stupelies.
In the second moto, however, it was the Frenchmen Valentin Giroud and Nicolas Musset who took the victory, they finished just off the podium in the first moto. Now, however, they were just too fast for Ben Adriaenssen-Ben van den Bogaart and Etienne Bax-Kaspars Stupelies. The boys who finished third in the first heat, Jan Hendrickx-Elvijs Mucenieks, now finished just off the podium in fourth.
For the day's rankings, this meant that the overall victory in the Swiss Grand Prix in Frauenfeld went to the reigning world champions, Ben Adriaenssen-Ben van den Bogaart. With their 47 points, they had 4 points more than the French duo Valentin Giroud - Nicolas Musset, and 7 points more than the two duos Etienne Bax-Kaspars Stupelies and Jan Hendrickx-Elvijs Mucenieks.
The Low Countries were well represented in Switzerland, because in addition to the duos already mentioned, Daniel Willemsen and baking player Robbie Bax finished in fifth place. In seventh place there was also room for Koen Hermans and Kenny Van Gaalen from the Netherlands and just in the top ten we found the Belgians Jason Van Daele and Olivier Valcke.
