Tixier "really disappointed" by missing Argentine GP after FIM penalty
Reigning MX2 world champion Jordi Tixier has spoken for the first time after the sanction and ban he will receive from participating in the third Grand Prix of 2015, namely that of Argentina on March 29. After he had an altercation with the medical staff during the Thai Grand Prix, this led to an effective suspension of one month.
Last Friday, Youthstream sent a press release about the actions taken by Tixier. This is considered unacceptable behavior and is therefore against the FIM World Championship rules.
Tixier collapsed a few meters before the finish in the first heat in Nakhonchaisri, in temperatures that almost reached forty degrees, and had to be helped by the track marshals and then taken to the medical center due to symptoms of exhaustion due to the enormous heat. The CLS rider was one of many who needed help and even series winner Jeffrey Herlings needed help on the podium. Without this help he would not have been able to start this second series, but the Frenchman was banned from starting due to problems with the local doctors.
The FIM refused to compare or accept the behavior of the 22-year-old Tixier, even in these extreme circumstances, and so the appeal of rider and team was immediately rejected.
“In all my life I have never hit anyone and since I came to the GPs in 2010 I have always behaved correctly and never caused any problems,” Tixier told us exclusively. “In Thailand it was really hot and after thirty-five minutes I just had no control over my body and my head. When I felt a bit better I regretted it and also towards that person.”
“I am really disappointed with the punishment and don't think it is fair,” he added. “I feel really bad now. At the moment I am even thinking about quitting my career, because I am very disappointed now.”
Tixier is currently in twelfth place in the standings with 65 points behind former teammate Jeffrey Herlings who has already won all four series. He will therefore only be able to compete again at the Grand Prix of Trentino (Italy) on April 19.
