KTM takes the double during the SX of Atlanta
For the second time in a row, valuable supercross points were fought for in the Georgia dome in Atlanta. Now that the season is half way through and some title candidates have literally disappeared, everything seems to be more or less falling into place. KTM once again clinched the double this weekend with a victory for Ryan Dungey in the 450cc class and Marvin Musquin in the 250cc class.
450cc:
In the big boys class it was Weston Peick who took the lead first with a flashy start. Behind him were Chad Reed and Ryan Dungey. However, current leader Dungey did not need much time to pass Reed. Peick was also killed after 5 laps. The KTM rider won his 3rd race in 5 competitions and consolidated his leading position over Trey Canard. In the race, Eli Tomac finished second, Canard third, Tickle fourth and Blake Bagget completed the top-5. Third in the standings, Ken Roczen only crossed the finish line in eighth.
250cc:
Marvin Musquin is all the buzz in Atlanta when it comes to the 250cc class. In the heats the Frenchman had to settle for 4th place, but once the main event started there was nothing more that could be done about Marv'attack. From start to finish the RedBull KTM rider was at the front and ultimately won by 4 seconds ahead of his closest competitor Jeremy Martin. Defending champion Justin Bogle took the podium in third place. The Swiss Arnaud Tonus finished seventh.
