IceOne ready for the FC450 in 2015
Red Bull Ice One Husqvarna Factory Racing will leave the development of the FC350 to Dean Ferris and Jacky Martens for the 2015 FIM MXGP Motocross World Championship. The team itself with Max Nagl, Todd Waters and Nathan Watson will therefore end up on the larger 450cc machine. “All our guys have the freedom to choose which bike they prefer to ride, but they are all 450 riders so the choice was obvious for us,” says Team Manager Antti Pyrhonen. “Max likes a little more extra power and this is the best solution for him,” he added, while the German who won the Grand Prix Stata of Goias is eagerly awaiting to win the Grand Prix Stata of Goias one of these days. to become a father for the first time.
Ice One that originally rode the 350 in the MXGP with Tyla Rattray in 2014. But a combination of injuries and bad luck were unable to make it onto the podium and they are still waiting for the first trophy to be won for the Husky team that won last year. season made the comeback in the premier class. Australian Dean Ferris will now be the focus point on the 350 evolution, while Red Bull KTM Tommy Searle will ride the “orange” sister machine.
Ice One, like the other teams, will travel to the Italian island of Sardinia with the FC450 for the first round of the Italian championship and thus continue the entire championship, which lasts about three weeks. Depending on the weather conditions, tests will also take place in southern Spain and Italy in the first weeks of the year.
While Nagl is happily awaiting to expand his family, Todd Waters is back in Australia to train and ride for his second season in the MXGP class with the help of the good climate there. “We are in close contact all the time and I am also happy to see that he has regained his confidence after his serious injury,” says Pyrhonen. “Todd was making really good progress until he broke his leg, then he did some ADAC MX Masters and some testing for us before flying back home. It was his first year in Europe and it is also important for him to see his family again and think about 2015. He is expected back in Belgium in January.”
From the team's first working weeks and months with Nagl, Pyrhonen had only positive reports. “He is a very good driver and very professional, I have really enjoyed these last few months. We started with some standard adjustments on the engine, but have already taken it to the next level. I can now safely say that he is very satisfied with the engine.”
