Review of ADAC Supercross Stuttgart
The ADAC Supercross circus also started last weekend. Because many of us were mainly concentrated on what was happening in Lille, this event was somewhat unfairly overshadowed. That's why today we're looking back at what happened there in recent days and how the Belgians came out of it.
No Belgians were eligible for the overall victory, the title of King of Stuttgart went to Greg Aranda. The Frenchman, who is branded as a true supercross champion, won the final on Friday. He did this for his fellow countryman Boris Maillard and the British Jack Brunell. There was no limit on Saturday, Gavin Faith, the American who has already crowned Australian supercross champion several times, had problems on Friday and was therefore stranded in the repechages. But now victory in the final was a fact for him, showing himself faster than his talented American compatriot Jace Owen and Friday's winner Greg Aranda.
Jeremy Delince who made his supercross debut in Stuttgart, was close to reaching a semi-final place on both days. The brand new KMP Repsol Honda pilot had the following to adjust: 'I clearly don't have the right speed in the whoops yet. Yet both days I was close to achieving a semi-final place. On Friday I even rode in a qualifying spot for a long time until I made a stupid rookie mistake. The nice thing is that we are making progress training after training, heat after heat in a discipline that is unknown to me.'
In the SX2 class, Briton Matthew Bayliss won the title of Prince of Stuttgart. He started the weekend with his weakest result, a 4th place, but after that the Team Waldmann pilot no longer finished off the podium with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. In the general standings he was ahead of the strong performing Frenchman Julien Lebeau and the Dutchman Dave Versluis. Neither of the two registered Belgians survived the qualification.
