Paulin debuts on Honda in Italy
The HRC Honda team will most likely join several other teams to compete in the first stage of the Italian Championship in Riola Sardo (Sardinia) on February 1. This will be the first race of the season for many, including Gautier Paulin who will make his debut on the CRF450RW Honda.
The first part of the official testing has now been completed, but while both Paulin and Bobryshev are completing their own training schedules at home, developments are continuing in full swing in Japan. Unlike previous years, the HRC riders did not travel to Japan this time and opted to test the new parts and suspensions here. This allowed the riders to test the engineers' new ideas in familiar territory.
The international crew - the crew consists of more than five different nationalities - will meet again in Sardinia in January to put the finishing touches to the motorcycle competition. “We will stay on the island for a week and will most likely take part in the first stage of the Italian Championship,” says General Manager Roger Harvey. “Sardinia has several circuits nearby and the weather is usually good during that period. There we will ultimately decide which races we will participate in before traveling to Qatar.
In any case, Honda will not start in Hawkstone Park, which will take place the weekend before Qatar. It is currently unclear whether Paulin will start in front of his own audience in Valence on February 14.
This year, more than ever before, Sardinia will be 'the place to be' for various factory teams. Yamaha, KTM and Suzuki have also done their final preparations there in recent years.
