Discussion: TC222 The Movie
Yesterday was the day, the Belgian public could prepare for the 'Tony Cairoli The Movie' premiere. The motocross world flocked to the Kinepolis in Hasselt. From Stefan Everts, Joel Smets, Genette Väge and Brent Vandoninck to motocross journalists Jurgen Schroten and former Tour of Flanders winner Nick Nuyens were on hand for one of the biggest motocross events of the year!
After the short speech by makers and subject, namely Nick Janssen, Jean Paul Maas and Tony Cairoli, the film could start. The comparisons with the previous film by the duo Nick and JP immediately stop at the one fact that both films are set in the motocross environment. As the man behind the camera, Nick, nicely put it: 'in the previous film we had many different storylines, in this one we only have one'. Yet Tony Cairoli is never boring in this film. You may be a fan of Clément Desalle, Gautier Paulin, Jeremy Van Horebeek or other Jeffrey's, and Ryans, this man even garners respect from the fans of his opponents!
The young Italian who alone and only with his talent in his backpack went to the north of his country to pursue his dream. A man who, unlike many, was not pampered from day one with the very best things. The life of Antonio Cairoli is a good example that nothing comes for free, that everything has its price.
After the film we asked, among other things, the beautiful Genette Väge for her opinion: 'The film was particularly beautiful, it tells the story in a very beautiful way. The story of a guy who comes from a family with few resources and then grows into, as it were, a real symbol in his sport, that is extremely inspiring." When we ask whether it is also a good film for non-motocross fans, the answer is: the Norwegian 'The story transcends motocross, it is about someone who works his way up to a star.'
Also Brent Vandoninck we crossed paths, his opinion was also exclusively positive: 'You keep watching with interest throughout the film, especially because it is about Cairoli! Now you see where he comes from and that it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows for him either. That is certainly a great aspect of the film, besides seeing that as a child he had to do it with one helmet for three seasons is simply unimaginable.' We also ask him whether the film can transcend our sport: 'It is not just about but about the cross, it's about a true champion! In addition, there were so many people here that it can't all be motocross people.
Cycling champion Nick Nuyens also passed past us. Nick, who was there via Red Bull, told us that the time had flown by, "always a good sign," he added. What did the man who actually has no connection with the sport think? 'It's something completely different from what I've always done, but of course I like stories like that, a real success story. From 'Zero to Hero' and still remaining an ordinary person, that is a really beautiful facet. This will be a fun film for every sports fan because its story applies to every athlete. You must have infinite motivation, in addition to the talents you acquired at home, of course, but really realizing that nothing comes for free, following the right path and having the right people around you is important for every athlete and actually every person. The film really stands for those things.' In short, Nick Nuyens had a great evening and the evening was still young!
