Yamaha confirmed Febvre for 2015
Yamaha Factory Racing confirms the signing of Grand Prix State of Goias MX2 winner Romain Febvre. The French star will fly to Italy this week to begin testing the YZ450FM, joining Jeremy Van Horebeek in the MXGP class of the 2015 FIM Motocross World Championship.
Van Horebeek has already been able to try out a lot of new material during the eighteen races of the World Cup campaign before the start in Qatar next spring. The Italian team recently tested the Van Horebeek 2014 YZ and Christophe Charlier YZ250FM for the press. Now all preparations will be made for the arrival of Febvre, the former Husqvarna rider will then be able to feel the power of the 450 for the first time.
“I can finally start testing this week and I have bought a plane ticket without round trip at the moment, because I have to go to Italy anyway and then we can see what to do.” Febvre, who finished third in the final standings of the 2014 MX2 World Championship, continues. “I have already had two quiet weeks and I now want to start preparing for 2015. I know I will have to learn some things about the MXGP. It's a new challenge, but I believe I'm in the right place to do it.
“On the 250 I liked riding high revs and the power that was available at all times, but we'll have to see what happens with the 450,” he added. “From what I saw in 2014, Van Horebeek's engine ran very well and I am sure that I can get my engine to my liking. I know that the team has a very good reputation for giving their riders the best package they need.
