More than 60 euros for charities!!!
On July 21, the 9th and penultimate edition of the 'Everts & Friends Charity Race', a unique motocross event for charity, was held on the Horensbergdam in Genk. Apart from Jeffrey Herlings' femur fracture, it was another wonderful edition with the reunion between Ricky Carmichael and Stefan Everts and a record number of spectators on the grandstand benches and along the circuit. At the same time, the children and young people from the selected charities enjoyed VIP treatment and the attention of 'The Legend' himself. Despite the (extremely) bad weather forecasts, the crowd was faithfully present, which now raised a record amount of no less than 61.000 € can be donated to various charities:
Ter Heide, a guidance center for residents with severe or multiple intellectual disabilities, receives 15.000 euros.
A Heart for Limburg (King Baudouin Foundation) receives two cheques, specifically for OC Ferdinand (7.500 euros) and Ter Engelen Services Center (7.500 euros).
De Medi Clowns – themselves present at the Horensbergdam – will receive 4.000 euros to support their hospital and home visits to sick children.
Bed net, that connects long-term and chronically ill children to their own school and classroom via the internet, receives a check for 2.000 euros.
't Weyerke, a service center for people with disabilities and nursing home for road traffic victims, will receive 8.000 euros.
10.000 euros has been reserved for Bethany, a multifunctional center for school-age children and young people with emotional and behavioral problems.
Children, Adolescents & Diabetes, which, among other things, sets up holiday camps for children and young people with diabetes mellitus juvenilis, will receive 4.000 euros.
The Molse youth institution The market Finally, you receive a contribution of 2.000 euros. At Save Motocross a check for 1.000 euros will soon be presented.
Stefan Everts himself is very pleased with the result: “The days before Everts & Friends I was very nervous. The weather forecast was terrible and I could literally see our event falling apart. The night before the race I barely slept an eye. The Charity Race itself was again a direct hit, although it was a bit of a shock after Jeffrey's fall and broken thigh. The fact that we can now donate a record amount of 61.000 euros gives me and our 300 employees great pleasure.”
Everts & Friends and AMC Genk would like to once again thank all employees, drivers, sponsors, media, spectators and sympathizers for their willing cooperation in the Charity Race. Next year there will be the very last Everts & Friends Charity Race.
