KEMEA Yamaha Race Report GP14 Loket, Czech Republic
Last weekend the 14th GP of the season took place in Loket, Czech Republic. On the hard natural circuit, Cyril Genot was the only KEMEA rider under the tent this weekend. Petar Petrov had an unfortunate fall during the Everts and Friends match last week and hurt his shoulder. After examination, it turned out that it had not been completely dislocated, but there was some damage to the capsule at the top of the shoulder. Petar did not get the green light for the Czech Republic GP but could start in Lommel next weekend.
The GP did not go entirely according to Cyril's wishes. The young Limburger failed to score points on this treacherous circuit. After a 12th fastest time in qualifying, Cyril completely missed his start in the first heat. Passing was very difficult on this circuit and Cyril did not get further than 24th place.
Cyril also did not get off to a good start in the second heat. He made some mistakes in the opening phase and lost a few places. He eventually finished in 26th place.
In the European Championship standings, Cyril is in 1th place with 13 match to go.
Cyril Genot: It was a difficult weekend, but on the other hand I learned a lot. In the first moto it was a train ride and difficult to pass. After my bad start I was not able to advance as much as I would have liked. I didn't ride well in the second heat. I drove around tensely and made some mistakes. I am disappointed with the result, but I try to learn as many lessons as possible from the competitions for the future. First I'm looking forward to the GP of Lommel next weekend where I will start with full courage.
Marnicq Bervoets: It is clear that Cyril still has difficulty with laps where there is less grip such as here. That is certainly an issue we will work on next year. He is not comfortable driving around and lacks some confidence in these races. Next week in Lommel he will be on familiar territory and he will be able to drive much more relaxed. The plan now is to finish this European Championship season on a positive note and then start working towards next year.
