Cairoli and Herlings on pole position in Finland
Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings won their qualifying match today in Hyvinkaa. Cairoli easily won his race in the MXGP and led from start to finish. Herlings had a slightly more difficult time and was only able to take the lead from Dylan Ferrandis a few corners before the end.
In MX2 the fastest start was for Jordi Tixier. Tixier led for several laps but crashed hard on the third lap. He left the lead to Herlings but was eventually able to resume the race at the back of the starting field. Herlings was not in the lead for long, because he also made a spectacular mistake and lost several places. Dylan Ferrandis thus became leader in the race ahead of Valentin Guillod and the surprising Harri Kullas. Herlings quickly returned to the front, but it took until the very last lap before he could pass Ferrandis. Guillod came third and Petar Petrov finished in fourth place. Julien Lieber finished sixth, Damon Graulus crossed the finish line in 21st and Mathias Plessers in 25th.
