Herlings dominates in Finland
Jeffrey Herlings has continued his winning streak in Hyvinkäa, Finland. The Dutchman easily won both heats and now only needs six more points to win his third title in Loket.
In the first moto there was a heavy crash in the first corner. The biggest victim was Luke Styke, who was briefly unconscious and was taken to hospital for examination. There they determined that the ligaments in his shoulder were stretched. This incident saw several yellow flags waved but these were ignored by Butron and Ferrandis, with both being awarded a time penalty after the race. Herlings quickly took the lead and built up a lead of more than a minute over Jordi Tixier. Ferrandis and Butron, who had actually crossed the finish line in second and third, were relegated to twelfth and thirteenth place. Julien Lieber finished seventh, Damon Graulus finished 19th and Mathias Plessers finished 25th.
Herlings was also unstoppable in the second heat. Butron again made the best start, but he could not keep the Dutchman behind him for long. This time Herlings created a lead of 1min17 seconds and doubled his lead to eighth place! Ferrandis came second, followed by Gasjer, Tixier, Butron and Petrov. Due to Butron and Ferrandis' time penalty in the first heat, Gasjer was able to finish second on the podium. Tixier, who was still in a lot of pain after his crash yesterday, finished third in the final standings. Julien Lieber finished eighth in this heat. Damon Graulus dislocated his elbow after a crash and had to leave the race. The elbow was repaired on site, but Damon will go to the doctor in Belgium tomorrow for further examination.
