Win for Renet, Bellino and Remes in Sweden
Last weekend the fifth test of the Enduro World Championship was held in Sweden.
In the E1 class the victory went to the Finn Eero Remes on his TM. Remes was able to take advantage of a mistake by leader Nambotin on the first day to take the lead. Nambotin made a big mistake in the extreme test and was unable to make up for lost time. He finished in second place and was able to stay ahead of Spaniard Cristobal Guerrero. Italian Thomas Aldrati finished fourth and Frenchman Jeremy Tarroux rounded out the top five on his Sherco.
The E2 class was once again a success for Pierre Alexandre Renet. Renet won his fourth consecutive competition and was able to withstand the pressure from Johny Aubert, who won 8 of the 16 tests. Alex Salvini finished third on the podium while Lorenzo Santolino and Roni Nikander finished fourth and fifth.
Matthias Bellino caused a French party by winning the E3 class. Bellino had to pass the Australian Matt Philipps on the first day, but made the difference on the final day. Bellino won ahead of Philipps but it is the Australian who takes the lead in this class. Third place went to Matti Seistola ahead of Luis Correia and Jeremy Joly.
The big absentee this weekend was Antoine Meo. Last year's E1 champion had a serious crash in Finland last week and was taken to hospital with multiple fractures and lung trauma. The Frenchman has already undergone several operations and will be out of action for at least three months.
Surprisingly, the victory did not go to Laia Sanz among the women. The Spanish was deposed by Jane Daniels. Jessica Gardiner came third.
