Preview Final ONK Oldebroek
Next Monday, June 9, the final of the ONK will take place in Oldebroek, Gelderland. MX Active gave the organization the opportunity to answer a number of questions.
MX Active: What do you think about organizing the final of the ONK?
Organizing a final always involves many uncertainties. These can be positive and negative. We were very happy in advance with organizing the last ONK. The planned scenario that all champions will be announced in Oldebroek is unfortunately no longer feasible. However, we are still happy with the last match. The weather forecasts seem good. We have a great program on both Saturday and Pentecost Monday. We are ready.
MX Active: What did it entail in terms of preparation and organization?
In Oldebroek we always try to take care of everything down to the last detail. This has been attempted again this year and we think it has been quite successful. The many volunteers have fully committed themselves to making it a beautiful whole again. We also received the green light around Easter to cut down the trees for the safety zone for World Cup matches. This has created extra work, but the volunteers have also completed this job.
MX Active: What changes have been made compared to the last ONK in Oldebroek?
The safety zone around the track has been adjusted. A number of small bumps have also been added to reduce the speed. A single bump and a table have been created on the starting field.
MX Active: Looking back on the previous ONKs in Oldebroek. What do you remember most?
Top circuit, top field of participants, GP worthy in 2013 and above all a lot of cold. Unfortunately, fewer spectators than the field of participants would expect.
MX Active: What is the ultimate reason for the public to travel to Oldebroek?
To enjoy a nice piece of motocross on one of the most beautiful natural tracks in the Netherlands.
MX Active: Which top riders will be at the start on Pentecost Monday?
Unfortunately, there are not such top players at the start as in 2013. (Editor's note: this offers plenty of opportunities for non-World Cup riders to put themselves in the spotlight. The local riders will also do their best to achieve a good ranking).
MX Active: Are there any ideas about an ONK in the 2015 season?
In 2015 we have a World Championship Sidecar on the Pentecost weekend.
MX Active: What are your ambitions for the next 5 years?
There are still plenty of ambitions, but we are not looking too far ahead yet. We hope to have a good event so that more targeted plans can be made for the future.
MX Active: Who would you like to thank in advance before the ONK?
All sponsors, benefactors, volunteers and everyone involved in the organization.
MX Active: When is the ONK a success for the organization in Oldebroek?
When it has been a beautiful sporting day, with fascinating competitions and hopefully no injuries for the riders. And the whole thing is watched by enough spectators
