De Malle Transfermolen 2015: Herlings still 1 year of MX2 and then...?!
It seems bizarre, but I have heard from two separate sources that it is true. What? That one particular team is already working on 2016!
But let's start at the beginning. It is increasingly looking like Jeffrey Herlings will spend another year in the MX2 championship. The question is whether KTM will declare the bankruptcy of our sport. Sport lives from fights and duels. Just imagine what kind of off-season we would be in for if Herlings makes the switch. What a hype that would arise. But no, 2015 will be another boring season in which Jeffrey Herlings can try to win all the series in a class in which he can only lose. Nice? No, it isn't.
In addition, we suspect that Jeffrey Herlings is not happy with the fact that he has to play 'second fiddle' in the KTM story. The young, self-confident and ambitious Dutchman undoubtedly just wants to beat the best in the world, (Antonio Cairoli). Something that is made impossible for him. So it is no surprise that the HRC Honda team is increasingly spotted around 'The Bullit'.
What? HRC Honda?! Beats. The only hitch is Jeffrey Herlings' current contract until 2015. However, this reportedly does not stop the Japanese team from talking to the Dutchman now. Talking about the fact that signing with KTM early in the 2015 season wouldn't be a good idea. In addition, the team almost literally has buckets full of gold waiting for whoever can make them the dominant team they were before.
Let me say that this is a very interesting story and obviously not that surprising. Who wouldn't want 'Herlings' in their team?!
